Why Asians Are Smart, Antisocial, or For the Unlucky Ones, Both

You see them everywhere. At their own little table doing their homework during lunch (criminal, I know), in the library rushing to finish their All the Right Type program because their parents "will kill them" if they don't get a perfect score, and maybe for the ones who don't get daily mental abuse from their uptight parents, socializing.

Yes, the intelligent to the extreme, Asians. You can now find out why many Asians (well, at least me) are so smart, antisocial, or for the unlucky ones like me, both.

I am currently an antisocial, cynical, fatally unathletic, Asian curmudgeon, whose parents thinks that she's considered a crazily weird freak among much of the public. Here's why.

So it all starts with the parents. When I was very young, maybe in Kindergarten, I saw the pressure that my parents put on my older brother to get perfect grades, and scolding him about education or something. Therefore, I technically started my education when I was in Preschool (for you idiots out there, you don't start learning academics in Preschool; you start socializing and learning to write your own name). Yes, I was considered gifted when I hit Kindergarten. Kids stared at me in awe as I cruised through first, second, third... whatever. The problem was, though, I was antisocial. I had but only a few friends until fifth grade, when I went into an advanced class full of other antisocial, intelligent people. But that's another story.

Why was I antisocial? Maybe it was because of the mental abuse I got from my parents. "[insert annoyingly loud Chinese here] 4.0! Must get 4.0! [insert more annoyingly loud Chinese here] 4.0!" "D+?! UNACCEPTABLE!!" (Yes, at one point I completely blew a math quiz) "So stupid! You so stupid! [insert Chinese here]" And maybe it was because I started playing video games at the age of 3 because of my brother. But that's another story.

And now in middle school, my parents are telling me to go out and make some friends that do stuff other than play on Gaia Online and read Warriors/Guardians of Ga'Hoole/other generic series that kids tend to love. This is what my parents tell me the most.

"Look at [insert friend's name here]! She ish so much more athletic/flexible than you!"

"Watching so much TV? RIDICIRLOUS!!" (my mother pronounces it that way)

"Go out and make some [word in Chinese for active/outgoing] friends!"

Yeah, so a majority of my friends are Asian, just like me. Some are antisocial, some not. But they have one thing in common: they, too, get verbally abused by their parents and obsess over getting a 4.0. So that's pretty much why many Asians are "intelligent to the extreme."

How social they are... that just depends on exactly how much verbal abuse they get from their parents.

So now you know!

ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US.
